BEYONCE GETS TO KEEP HER "BABY BOY"

BEYONCE GETS TO KEEP HER "BABY BOY"

R&B singer Beyonce Knowles has won a copyright infringement lawsuit against a songwriter who had claimed the star used her song without permission to create her 2003 hit “Baby Boy.”

Jennifer Armour claimed that she had sent her track for consideration to Matthew Knowles and his Music World Entertainment, Beyonces father and manager.

However, a U.S. judge ruled in 2006 that there was no evidence to suggest that the former Destinys Child singer had copied a demo recording of the track by Armour.

Armour appealed against the ruling last year but again the judge ruled in favor of Beyonce after being satisfied by evidence showing that the singer had already finished her song when Armour submitted her track.

A statement released on Jan 2, 2008 said that the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit “upheld the 2006 trial court decision dismissing a copyright infringement lawsuit brought against Beyonce.”

Beyonce is pleased that the whole case has finally come to an end, reports a source.

“It’s unfortunate that we had to endure this long legal process, but I am hopeful this decision will allow all of us that were involved to finally move on,” says Beyonce.

THE BOSS RICK ROSS HUSTLES HARD

Not many rappers can attest to getting a cosign from Jay Hova, moving over a million units, and becoming the first artist to attain platinum status off the strength of ring tone sales, in his rookie year with no more than two official singles released. With the aforementioned accomplishments, Rick Ross has earned his self-proclaimed title as The Boss. Ross flexes his muscle in every arena he chooses to enter with his hustle.

With a year in the game, a sneaker with Dwyane Wade, and a documentary slated for release next year, Ross has a lot more to say. From moving weight to moving units, the struggle of fatherhood, and building an empire with Jay-Z by his side. Ross sophomore release, Trilla; now set for a February ‘08 release.

HOVA MIGHT NEED A LIL' "BLUE MAGIC"OF HIS OWN

HOVA MIGHT NEED A LIL' "BLUE MAGIC"OF HIS OWN

The NY Daily News is reporting that Jay-Z is being quite the diva when it comes to renegotiating his Def Jam contract as the President of Def Jam. According to an unnamed source (of course, everyone wants to dish the dirt, but no one ever wants their identity revelead), Jay’s bosses are finding his demands to be somewhat excessive and now it seems his contract will expire at the end of this month. Well, don’t get your panties in a bunch, Jay is still the biggest artist on the label (hmmm….or is Kanye bigger right now?) so he may have some negotiating power. But there’s one thing that we do know, and that’s that if President Carter gets the boot, then the days of Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel albums are over (and would that be a bad thing?).
