A Warner Brothers representative confirmed that Janelle Monae (pronounced "Money", tee hee, jus' kiddin') is the latest addition to the Bad Boy Entertainment roster.
Monae was first discovered at Kim Porter’s ‘Three Brown Girls’ open mic night at Justin’s in Atlanta and created a fan base within Historically Black Colleges & University communities.
Prior to joining Bad Boy, Monae was signed to Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon record label. On Purple Ribbon she made her first national debut on the ‘Idlewild’ movie soundtrack songs “Call The Law” and “In Your Dreams.”
Last year Monae released her first album ‘Metropolis’ on independent label Wondaland Arts Society. She described ‘Metropolis as “…a daring epic film, the album concern a cybergirl's struggle to love in the futuristic city of Metropolis”
For Monae's forthcoming album on Bad Boy, no release date has been schedule.
