For as long as the genre has been heard since the last 1980's Mariah Carey's name has been floated around. The singer and new mom beat out relative new comer - Beyonce in the title for the wealthiest Crooner. Granted Bey's hubby is also worth around the same $300M she is on her own; but on this list - it's all about the solo stars.
And before Bey stans come for my head, let it be known that yes, B has only been making millions since the turn of the new millenium, so number two is an accomplishment. What her stans wouldn't understand is that back in the 80's and early 90's singers may have lent their tunes to shows, movies and endorsements - but the world of selling your sould is relatively new. Where Beyonce was hocking scents farely early in her solo career, Mariah didn't take that leap until the 2000s as well. So had she been on every product imaginable since her debut, she would most likely be a billionaire. But enough abou the divas - let's see who else made the cut, according to R&B Magazine
1. Mariah Carey - $500 Million
2. Beyoncé - $350 Million
3. R. Kelly - $150 Million
4. Usher - $140 Million
5. Rihanna - $72 Million
6. Mary J. Blige - $45 Million
7. Chris Brown - $24 Million
8. Whitney Houston - $20 Million
9. Cee-Lo Green - $20 Million
10. Keri Hilson - $20 Million
We're surprised at Mary J. Blige, considering her legnthy career, we would have thought Diddy would help her invest.Usher and R. Kelly's spots seem appropriate. We were however shocked at Chris Brown - I guess this is why he is beefing with his own Twitter followers. Surprises on the list were Keri Hilson and Cee-Lo Green. Congrats to the both of you!
