Plaxico Burress Shoots Himself at a Club, Stashes The Gun at Home & Says it All Happened at Apple Bees?

Well, if someone wanted to top my list of the stupidest arrests, urban stars have gotten themselves into, Plaxico Burress, just did that. The NY Giants Superbowl champion just handed himself into police, and will plea 'Not Guilty', to illegal gun possession, stemming from gun shot wounds, he accidentally inflicted upon himself, at Latin Quarters Club, this past weekend in NYC. He has even enlisted the help of Diddy's 'Club Shooting' attorney, Ben Braffman.

Pretty much, Burress went to the Club and was initially turned away, because of his weapon. However, the sports star, returned relentlessly and according to the Daily News, "flashing jewelry and carrying loads of cash", explained that he needed the heat for 'protection'. He was then permitted into the club and lead to an exclusive private V.I.P. area. This is where all the shit hits the fan.

Witnesses say that Plaxico attempted to clean his gun, or play with it in his hands. He lost control of the weapon and fumbled with it until it fell and as a result, he shot himself in the leg. But, the NFL player convinced his fellow teammate, Antonio Pierce, who happened to be with him, not to call police. In fact, they reportedly headed to New Jersey and dropped the gun off at Burress' home. Then, Plaxico headed to the hospital, where he used his alias, Harris Smith and told a story about how he was shot at an Applebee's restaurant. Unfortunately for him, staff immediately recognized him and snitched him out.

The kicker, and the part that could have Burress in even more hot water, is the whole cover up story. He, Antonio Pierce and Latin Quarters maybe in trouble for trying to cover it up. Apparently, although the Club was investigated, no one of their staff called the police; and the scene was cleaned up. Let's hope his lawyer can pull another Diddy victory and have 12 jurors find him 'Not Guilty'.
