First and foremost the original artist who everyone is swagger jacking is M.I.A, whose "Paper Planes" line "no one on the corner got swagger like us"; has caused the newest beef in the Hip Hop Industry. Apparently, Jim Jones feels hated on by Kanye West, T.I. and most of all jay-Z, for not including him on "Swagger Like Us". Jim, is this a case of Bitch Assness? He sat down with Complex.com recently and revealed that him, Juelz Santana and Lil' Wayne, with a beat by Chink Santana, have created their own rendition of the song called; "Jacking Swagger From Us". He seems to feel that Jay-Z straight jocked his style on the cover of VIBE and that he is the biggest thing in Hip Hop fashion. I don't know why Wayne turned on his fellow Carter; but I'm thinking of two words, promethazine and codeine.
Complex: You and Juelz are all about that swag-splashing. How do you feel about not being included on “Swagger Like Us”?
Jim Jones: I think it was deliberate. I really do think it was deliberate; maybe in my sick twisted mind I’m a little crazy. People know who set the precedent as far as fashion in this industry and people know who damn near changed the world as far as fashion. You look at people, they went from the urban world of clothing, back when Rocawear and Sean John was cool. And then in the past 5 years I stepped in and gave them a taste of what rock and roll looks like from my side. I guess people would say from an urban side, and it seemed to catch on like wildfire, to the point that people was going to stores and asking for that Jim Jones look. Me and Juelz had Chink do our own beat, I have Weezy’s verse in my inbox right now and we kept the hook of that song because it was a sample. So we’re going to put that as a bonus track on the album, and put it to the streets. “No one on the corner got swag like you we don’t Rocawear that’s for fags like you.” [Laughs.]
Although that line was funny as hell; I'm not laughing...okay a little bit. Anywhoo, Jim Jones is taking this a little too personal. First of all, Jimmy, Harlem is the shit, but it's only in one place. You started trends in urban areas and maybe the UK (if even that), but Jay-Z isn't some jeans and a hoodie wearing brotha anymore. He's graduated to a level where he knows you can mix Louie and Gucci if you do it right. He's worried about 5 piece suits that cost some people's salaries and your still young, dressing young and apparently acting young. Did you hear Kingdom Come? Did you hear the song, "30 Something"? And it's not like Diddy is repping Sean Jean track suits unless he's jogging or on a billoboard hovering over Times Square. And then, [below], he said NONE of the guys on the track, but Weezy has any sawg? What about Kanye? GQ's 'Man of the Year', Kanye. He, to me is the biggest Fashion Icon in the Hip Hop Industry. Check out his blog. He's into every scope of design possible, interior design, jewelry, shoes, high end, woman's, men's. Number 2 is Pharrell, who is not only designing high end jewelry, but has actual furniture out there. There I SAID IT! Jim, you may have started a neighborhood fad, that is now getting cleaned up; because boys realized no matter what clothes your wearing, looking like they don't take baths don't look cute. Jim Jones: And look at the Vibe cover. Tell me who Jay-Z looks like in there? Did you see the picture of him? With the Louis Vuitton scarf and all that. Who did that resemble? You can say it. Jim Jones: I don’t feel like he possesses any swag. Not like that. It’s fabricated. They’re watching other people, then they try and do it. You know people that dress like T.I.? You know people that go out and say let me get a T.I. outfit or do you know people who say “yo, you’re looking like Jim Jones?” Which one? Lemme hear it!
