[0] Latina’s May issue includes an interview with Calle 13’s René Pérez Joglar (Residente), and José Cabra Martínes (Visitante)… In case you didn’t know – their stage names reference how Eduardo often visited René at the latter’s house after Visitante’s dad married Residente’s mom.
Visitante: “I don’t think we could have done this one (album) first – it would have been una loquera extrema …We walk a fine line of presenting music that is a hybrid and lyrics that are simple but have a complicated message. Residente: “Our goal is to reach a wide audience, whether college-educated or from the streets, and really make people think and question everything – without sacrificing our integrity. Visitante: “If people want to call us saviors (of reggaeton) that’s fine with us. But we’ve always said we’re not really reggaeton – we mix a lot of different things together. And as far as pressure (from this title)…we feel like we proved ourselves in the first album. Residente: “All modesty aside, you’ll see that by the time we’re finished, people will say that Calle 13 made a huge change in a genre at time when it was stuck en la misma porquería. No one can take that away from us. The hot studs of Calle 13 discussed more than their upcoming album – Residente and Visitante get personal… Residente: I actually had sex really late: I was 18 or 19. I got kissed and head sex, both for the first time, at the same time. Before then, I’d never even had a girlfriend. I couldn’t tell when a girl was interested in me! Latina asked Calle 13 “What was your first collaboration together? Visitante: “We used to play all kinds of practical jokes on my dad. We’d spend whole afternoons setting up traps for him before he came home from work. Residente: “Like putting butter on doorknobs and setting up buckets of water…so they’d tip over and make a puddle when he finally got the door open.
