TUPAC'S HUMMER ON THE AUCTION BLOCK

Hard financial times are behind the auction of a 1996 H1 Hummer, previously owned by rapper Tupac Shakur.

Havenotz Entertainment owners Yaasmyn Fula (mother of late Outlawz rapper “Kadafi”) and rapper Sardar “Candyman 187” Khan recently put the vehicle up on eBay.

The company, founded by Shakur, Kadafi and Khan, was recently forced to liquidate its assets. But, contrary to other reports, they say greed is not a motive for the sale.

“We’re not selling it to make money,” Khan, 24, said in an interview with BET.com. “We’re just trying to survive.”

Bidding for the vehicle started at $200,000 and, at press time, $200,100 is the highest bid it has received.

“We don’t care how much it sells for – whether it be $200,000 or $500,000,” said Khan, who grew up with Kadafi and Tupac and was “like a brother” to the two rappers.

Our primary goal is to make sure the families and legacy of Kadafi and Tupac are taken care of, he added.

Shakur, Khan and rapper Yafeu “Kadafi” Fula, (a member of the rap group the Outlawz, which Shakur founded after his release from prison 1995) formed Havenotz Entertainment in 1995 when Khan was just a pre-teen.

“Tupac was about reaching out to little kids,” he said. By me being a part of something like that at such a young age, “it kept me out of trouble.”

But, unfortunately, Tupac and Kadafi suffered untimely deaths in 1996 (Kadafi actually died almost two months after Tupac when he was shot in his native New Jersey).

In 2003, the Hummer was originally raffled off in a BET contest (“Picture Me Rollin’ – Win Tupac’s Hummer Sweepstakes”). But Khan, feeling sentimental, got in contact with the person who won it and was able to purchase it back (for a price he would rather not disclose).

“This was one of Pac’s favorite vehicles,” he said. “He and Kadafi spent some of their last times alive,” in that vehicle.

“We had the money at the time to purchase it, so we did,” he added.

But now, he and Fula are looking to sell the Hummer with, according to a press release, the proceeds going towards, “preserving the art of both Tupac and Kadafi.”

Bidding for the vehicle was set to end yesterday.
