Yesterday, the courtroom was packed with many of Vick's supports, family and friends. Outside there were many animal rights activist making sure that Vick didn't get an easy sentence. The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback was sentenced to 23 months in a federal prison.
The news isn't all bad for Vick, who judge Henry E. Hudson claims, was "...instrumental in promoting, funding and facilitating this cruel and inhumane sporting activity,". Although the federal prison system has no parole, Vick may be able to get out by summer '09, just 18 months into his sentence; only if he has good behavior.
As for football, when commissioner Roger Goodell was asked if Vick, who was suspended indefinitely and lost all lucrative endorsement deals would play again, he said:
"That's a determination we'll make later on," he told The Associated Press inside a legislative hearing in Austin, Texas. "As I said earlier when we suspended him indefinitely, we would evaluate that when the legal process was closed."
I'm just saying, If I'm making millions with the sport I love, living my dream out; what the hell do I need a dog fighting business for? What dumb bull was that. I hope he learns his lesson. But he should be allowed o play again.
His sentenced was actually harder than originally recommended. Due to testing positive for mary jane and initially trying to deny his involvement in killing the low performance dogs. The other defendents recieved 18 and 16 months.
