Lay-Off the Def Jam Layoffs...it's Not Hov's Fault!

This week has been full of contraversy following Def Jams latest, masisve firing. People are speculating that all those involved, were the people who signed up to head Jay's "American Gangster" Lp.

I personally feel that it has nothing to do with the lackluster sales of his concept album, but rather the industry itself. First off, in the current state of the music industry, any artist is a risk. An album that is classic, can fall through the cracks because of the internet age. In my personal experience working within HR in a big music company, massive layoffs are to be expected. In fact, many of the big 6 (biggest music companies) have had their own slew of layoffs. Secondly, a label will not fire you because a project you worked on didn't do well. Most albums today, don't do well. So, please with the Jay-Z speculations.

P.S. For those of you who like to show the amount of money that Def Jam has lost, since Hov has been there; ask yourself ,how much money has every label lost since he's been there. Is it really his fault? Who brought Kanye to Def Jam, Got Rihanna to sell records? His label still has some of the hottest acts.
