Well as you know, September 11th won't just be a day of remembrance this year. It will set the stage for one of the biggest debut days in recent Hip Hop history. Kanye West's "Graduation" and 50's "Curtis" will go toe to toe. While hitting all the press possible to reclaim gory, mister Kanye has been leaving really interesting quotes for the rest of Hip Hop to hear.
Kanye did have this to say to MTV about the possibility that he didn't make the number one spot:
"I'd rather come out on a day like that, up against 50 - where people are excited about going to the stores and it's an event and people talk about it - and be #2 on that day rather than come out and be #1 on a day nobody cares about,". He added; "It's about things going down in history. It's not that much exciting stuff in hip-hop right now. I think people are going to make it more than what I'm making it myself. At the end of the day, I'm making music and I'm trying to sell."
On a recent trip to BBC 1Xtra, Kanye mixed up "The Friday NIght Mixtape" when he told DJ Semtex that he believes 50 may out sell him. But, he leaves this warning:
"This time next year I'll be the number one artist in the world and this is just the beginning of it," Kanye told Semtex. "It's complete world domination."
He went on to cover his ass a bit by adding; "Once this album Graduation comes out, I just wanna get my credit for being one of the top mc's," Kanye said. "The swag is up crazy. I'll rip any mc out there that's really how I feel. Wayne, close your ears. I'll rip everybody out there, discluding Wayne."
Umm mister Dropout...the correct word is "excluding".
